91% of Israeli's Support Blocking Flottillas - So What?

91 percent of Jewish Israelis believed Israel should stop future flotillas trying to breach its Gaza blockade. (From The Associated Press)

The AP didn't find it necessary to comment on what the Palestinians thought.

Let's put this in historical context, the following are some pretty decent estimates:

97% of Europeans in the Great Plains supported the Massacre at Wounded knee. No coverage of Native American opinion was deemed necessary.

95% of Japanese soldiers supported the massacre of 500 the Korean Independence Protesters on March 1st, 1919. No coverage of Korean opinion was deemed necessary.

98% of Prison Guards opposed the Attica Rebellion. No coverage of Prisoner opinion was deemed necessary.

95% of Ku Klux Klan members supported lynching. No coverage of Black opinion was deemed necessary.

99% of Christopher Columbus crew members supported his policies of rape, enslavement, and torture. No coverage of Native Caribbean people's opinion was deemed necessary.

Well, it seems that for a country made up illegal, foreign settlers, living on land they violently removed a population from, or for that matter, a privileged ethnic group repressing another people for their heritage and religion, Israeli public opinion is quite liberal.

Gotta love the U.S. Press. It seems to comment on the most relevant things.
