Wisconsin Declares War on Unions - Statement from Bail Out The People

Support Public Workers – An Injury to One Is An Injury to All

We Stand with Wisconsin’s Workers! Make the Banks Pay!

An Open Letter to the People from the Bailout the People Movement:

We urge all community groups, union members and their leaders, students, civil rights organizations and all those who seek justice to come to the defense of public workers in Wisconsin.

Governor Scott Walker is preparing this very week to dismantle union rights for thousands of public workers. Most of these workers are not high paid and privileged as the media has portrayed them.

The great many are women, African American and other workers of color who have struggled hard to have some small measure of protection on the job. They do the difficult work of providing services. They teach our children and they care for the sick and much more.

What Wisconsin’s Governor does will have ramifications for workers everywhere not just in the public sector. His action will signal a green light to big business minded Governor’s in all states that this is the way to go.

It is also an attack on vital services that are needed more than ever.

What the rich and the powerful want to do are strip us all of our rights and to make all workers into virtual slaves both in the public sector and private.

Make the Banks Pay!!

The so-called deficit crisis is being used as an excuse to attack workers in every sector from private to public. We say no! Make the banks get off of the money they are hoarding. Tax them and the rich! Take the trillions of wasted dollars on war and propping up dictatorships and spend it on the people.

We should tell Governor Scott Walker—hands off the public workers or we will do what the youth and people of Egypt did—come and stay in Wisconsin’s capitol in the thousands until you listen!

We will take up the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and march, sit-in and link arms with our sisters and brothers until justice is won.

Be at the Madison, WI state capitol 12 NOON Tuesday, February 15 and Wednesday, February 16!!

Join the protests this week; send messages of support, and most of all…

STAND WITH THE WISCONSIN WORKERS NOW!
