Joti Brar On: "What the USSR Means To My Generation"
Can't say I agree with her on Stalin, but otherwise, excellent speech.

I really believe this to be one of the best speeches I have heard for a while. I am very impressed. I would respectfully disagree with Caleb on her posistion on JV Stalin; I think Joti is correct on this.
Did you listen to her talk? She addressed these myths directly, and pointed out specifcally how socialism greatly improved the lives of millions and how socialism could improve the lives of the millions of the most oppressed peoples around the globe.
In truth, you need to stop glorifying for a nostalgic past of the ussr and stalin. Even assuming that everything you say is correct won't negate the negative stigma attached. If you want to create a real revolution you are going to have to move forward in your ideas, new times call for new measures.
But in truth, your nostalgia for the ussr is truly sad and stands as an insult to the realities of the poor people you seem to care about so much. A narrative of the USSR as a golden paradise? I'll take US capitalism over that any day
for a new perspective read grace lee boggs to start.
get out of the past! the only thing to learn from the ussr is its massive failure.

Just curious -- just what is it about the USSR you want to import to our shores? The government-imposed famines? The gulags? The brutal repression?

Pie in the sky bye and bye....
The reason Communism never works is because it attempts to strangle natural selection. It is anti-evolutionary, and therefore false.
